the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful( And we made from water every
living thing), the truth of God Almighty
Water
is the most important element for human's life. It is two-third of the human's body
in which without it life can not keep on. A man can live long weeks without food
, but he can not live few days without water. Loss of water in the body leads to
death faster than hunger.
There
are two forms of water in the human's body. One of them is outside the tissues that
represents the larger part; while the other one is inside the tissues. The water
that is outside the tissues represents the fluids that are in the blood, lymph, the
fluid in the spinal cord, and other secretions such as gastric secretion, bile, pancreas,
etc. Whereas the water inside the tissues represents the fluids surrounding the cells
in the courses interfaces and liquids constituents of protoplasm within the cells
themselves.
The
fuctions of water in the body
The
water makes several important and vital fuctions for maintaining the continuity of
life and it is summarized as the following:
Water
is considered to be the mean in which all food elements are dissolved in and transfered
throught from one organ to another in which it makes its fuctions.
It
Facilitates the digestion, absorption and excretion processes.
It
maintains the level of osmosis inside and outside the cells at normal, and it is
also responsible for the body balance.( Electronic balance)
It
plays an important role in maintaining the body's temperature at normal. For instance,
in hot a climate and when a person feels that he has high temperature caused by fever;
the process of sweating occurs which moisturizes the skin and balances his temperature
and lead to hypothermia of the body.
Water
carries harmful or toxic substances to the body resulting from the metabolism by
the kidneys in order to get rid of them in the form of urine such as urea, uric acids,
and others.
Water
acts as laxative for food substances in which it facilitates the the chewing process
by the presence of saliva thus helps the food to be easily ingested and digested.
By
water inside the gastrointestinal tract, it facilitates the excretion process and
gets rid of the waste substances.
Water
considers to be an important element in the process of building cells, and it helps
to speed the healing of tissues when infected by wounds or diseases.
The
need of water to the body
The
body needs approximately 2 to 3 liters of water daily in a moderate weather.
